Compare this little unit to the Transend JetFlash MP3 1GB.

JetFlash is about $170 - IpS Shuffle $189
JefFlash has FM tuner - IpS None.
JetFlash has LCD screen - IpS none.
JetFlash has 2 year warranty - IpS 90 days!
JetFlash has replaceable battery - IpS, rechargeable is good as long as it lasts, I suppose.
JetFlash ugly in comparison to IpoD Shuffle.

I guess if you have money coming out your sphincter, like many Apple customers, most of those issue about really don't matter. For me, the IpS is so uncompetitive an MP3 player that I feel the need to rant about it and disparage it every chance I get.

Uh...the 1GB iPod Shuffle is $149, or $139 if you qualify for an educational discount. All of your other complaints are non-issues.

Go away.

Uh oh. I've offended the Cult of Mac by criticizing the inherent and unquestionable brilliance of Steve Jobs. I can see this, like every other Mac forum is more so a place of worship than true discussion.

Discussion? To refresh:

Maybe next time you want a discussion, you won't start your threads like a troll.

Also, it helps to actually know what you're talking about. A lot of your information about the Shuffle was just incorrect or misleading. The 1GB Shuffle is $149, not $189. The Shuffle has a one year warranty. As for batteries: given that the iPod Shuffle starts at only $99, by the time the battery wears out (which will probably take years), the average buyer will likely just want to upgrade to a new player.

And you can get an adapter for disposable battery's. Not only that but the internal battery will last from 300-500 charges(more if its only partially drained. For example if you use 30% charge one day then 70% the next that is one charge even if you recharge it in between) and 2-3 years whichever comes first.

btw what the hell is this guy's problem.

FEED ME!

haha. You guys are funnny.

I add the troll elements because it's just so phenomenal how up in arms so many Mac users get when someone criticizes anything made by Apple. It's like I'm insulting one of your family members. Very cult-like.

Sure there's some troll factor in there, but that is really quite irrelevant. The Shuffle is entirely overpriced for what you get. Granted, Apple is quite well known for being expensive, but usually there is some reasonable way to justify the price. Like, when I bought my first iBook, having never used a Mac, I decided that this would better fit my needs than any PC laptop on the market because it was quiet, small and not over my $2000 budget.

- Did it ever occur to you that I was quoting the prices in Canadian dollars?
- That's indeed a good point about the unit being almost worthless by the time the rechargable battery is toast.

So, add the extra battery pack and applecare warranty for two years and our little $189 toy turns into $317. (!)

bah... I suppose I'm just a poor man living in a rich man's world, cuz all this talk is quite irrelevent if money is no object... and certainly it isn't for many Apple fans.

Did you check reception quality of FM radio on that Jetflash? Better check it. I have tried so far 3 non Apple flash music players with FM but each one has got pretty uselss FM reception.

People are reporting that Shuffle's battery holding its juice for more than 12 hours. Also iPod 1g and 2 g users got around 2 years+ battery life.

My shuffle battery will last for 2 years for sure. And then after who cares, will shop for newer models. By the way how much that Jetflash battery replacement will cost?

For extend period of use , one can buy AA battery adapter for $29 from Apple and I am sure that pretty soon other after market products will be available including replacement battery. Check iPod 1g, 2g replacement battery (DIY Kit) available for $29!

Apple gives full 1 year's warranty that inclides battery replacement. For other tech help , there are dozens of user forums to help apart from Apple's own. You won't probably need telephone tech support , and for intitail problmes that 90 days support is there.

And what others electronic gadget people keep holding for more than 2 years , best example is cell phone , check it.

Do you have a link where we can get a 1GB mp3 player JetFlash for $170?

http://www.meritline.com/usb-2-mp3-p...pen-drive.html

This was all I could find on it, and the $175 price is American. Compared to the $149 of the iPod Shuffle.

Could you back your claims up please?

Not to mention you have to feed that JetFlash AAA batteries, so that increases the cost of the player.

You do ignore the bigger picture in your comparison:

- support for M4A and/or M4P
- full support for iTunes - (syncing, playlists, etc.)

Granted, some of that only really is important if you have a full blown iPod, but nonetheless, an important part.

I mean, I have an iPod because I don't want to listen to the radio; there is enough cr@p music out there that it's too hit and miss to enjoy (not to mention the bloody commercials!).

The magic behind the iPod isn't the iPod alone; it's the whole integration with your system that makes it such a pleasure to use.

If you feel so strongly against the shuffle, just move on...

IQ=(x)^(1/2)
0 shoelaces in his shoes
therefore x=0
plug your numbers in and you get:
IQ=0^(1/2)
Therefore, IQ=0

So what exactly is the point to your thread sick puppy? You talk to people here like they are
stupid for making a choice to buy an Apple product which is not even a Mac only product.
It's obvious you are a Microsoft Windows lover but nobody here so far has
judged you for kissing all over the JetFlash MP3 so buy it (if you haven't already), start a relationship with it and
have kids together because you just came here to start up some heat and it's really
nonsense.
Yeah, the Mac community do praise their computers and Apple's products but we have
problems with our computers too and that's why we come here for help.
So if you can't help then you are in the wrong place.
