Say I downloaded a bunch of album art for all my albums in iTunes and I want to move all my music to another computer. Will the album art show up in the iTunes on the other computer if I just move the mp3 files? Or do I need to download the album art again?

If you downloaded the album art from the iTS, then you will have to re-download it on the other computer. If you added it manually it is embedded into the files and travels with them. You can select the songs, copy the album art, delete it, and paste it in again if you want it to be embedded into the files.

That's my only option for embedding the art into the mp3? I have way too much music for that... better to register for the iTunes store on the other computer and redownload.

redownloading the artwork would indeed be the best solution.

I would think it would depend on how you did it. If you simply copied your iTunes library folder to the new machine, it would work. I see a folder in my iTunes library called Album Artwork. I bet it's located in there.

It also wouldn't surprise me if iTunes did the same with artwork as it does with other metadata tags: they're not saved to the original files -- unless you select the file and pick "Convert ID3 Tags...". For metadata, that saves the updated data back to the files. It might do the same for cover art. I haven't tested it.
