OK so I've just updated my 10gig iPod to 1.3 and the top level of the menu now reads:

Playlists >
Browse >
Extras >
Settings >
Backlight

The backlight entry doesn't have a > next to it and I can't appear to do anything with it. What is it? I'm sure it wasn't there before. Mind you, I hardly ever take my pod out of its case to look at the display so I can't be sure.

Anyone?

Um, not on mine it doesn't. I've tried highlighting it and then I've hit each of the buttons but nothing happens. The only ways I seem to be able to toggle the backlight is to either go into Settings > Backlight Timer and set it to off or to hold down the Menu button.

Odd.

OK, I've sussed out what was wrong... I had my backlight timer set to 5 seconds - it needs to be turned off in the settings for the backlight switch on the top level of the menu to work.

Seems a bit odd, but duh nevermind

Odd.
I have an old 5GB model, and if I push the center button on the Backlight menu, it does indeed turn on the backlight, or turn it off if it was on.

Does holding down menu still turn the backlight on?
