Oh that missing icon has been requested often here. I welcome that finally someone cares. 
Suggestions have been to have two sizes for small and large threads and different colors for old and new threads (that would make the 3 + 1 traditional icons). For "participated" threads one could simply add a symbol like a dot in them.
