battle.net problems

I just got WCIII and tFT yesterday. I installed WCIII first, got on battle.net and updated to 1.11. Then I installed tFT and now I can't connected to battle.net at all. I've tried reinstalling them both. Removing tFT and just using WCIII. Nothing works.
Before you ask, my WCIII copy is legit, my tFT copy isn't quite, but will be when my amazon order gets here. Could that be the problem? I doubt it because I get "unable to connect to battle.net" error. Any help would be appreciated.
edit: I've tried doing a traceroute to useast.battle.net, uswest.battle.net, europe.battle.net, and asia.battle.net and I get a lot of asterisks. What's that mean? I'm on a cable modem through an ABS.

Whose serial number did you use for TFT?
If the owner of that serial number is playing the game online then you can't get on at same time. If Blizzard suspect that you gave the serial number to someone else, they will ban your SN either temporary or permantely.

I used one I got from a SN generator. Even so, my WCIII installation shouldn't affected, should it?

Seriously you're an idiot for using SN Generator.
I don't care if your copy didn't arrive yet, it isn't right to use an illegal serial number.
I hope your WCIII will be affected

Dude, chill out. Do you want me to send you my order confirmation from amazon so you can see that I did order it and it's on the way? Shall I send you a scan of my WCIII box and CD-key so you can verify it before you offer some real advice?
Get off your high horse, man. Jeez.

Want some real advice? Wait until your copy from amazon comes before you try and play on Battlenet. Problem solved!

Ok, fine. I'm an idiot. BUT, I do have my copy of WCIII, which doesn't work either. So, can I get some real advice for this problem or not? I've deleted all my prefs, deleted WCIII and tFT and reinstalled WCIII ONLY. Still, no worky.
So, can someone help me out or not?

ps - Adam, you're right. I was an idiot for using the SN keygen. It's not like me at all. I was just a little impatient.

Ok, now it works. I've deleted tFT from my computer will wait til Friday or thereabouts for my shipment to arrive from amazon. That'll learn me. Apologies for being such an idiot. Anywho, once I get up to speed on WCIII, I'd like to venture into battle.net some more. Right now, I'm embarrassed to even play against the computer.
See ya 'round bnet...

Glad y'all got it cleared up. Since this thread was reported (and seems dead anyways) I'll lock it to keep the world at large happy.
