I have a 867mhz Tibook and lately (last month) have been having a fan problem. What is going on is that the unit get hot and the fan comes on no long after it is turned on no matter what the situation.
I use a stand at work and have it plugged in but it never used to run the fan that much (hardly ever) but now it runs monst of the day. when I run it on battery it isn't much different. I have it set to automatic for the processor speed.
I really am at a loss here. I installed the updates recently and that seems to be fine, actualy the software and os run perfectly fine. I am starting to think there may be something else wrong but not too sure. Would resetting the power module possible solve this or do I need to think about letting apple looking at it?
Well, it is technically power related, as it has to do with powering on and off a device inside the machine. There is no harm done in resetting the PMU (unless you have a RAM disk or other vital information in your PRAM). Give it a shot.
Thanks for replying about the PMU. it seems to have completely solved the problem. The PB doesn't seem to get as hot and the fan doesn't come on unless you really push it and only for a minute or so.
