I will be receiving a used 500 mhz Pismo tomorrow and wanted to know if I can use the 256 meg RAM card from my Lombard. I vaguely remember reading that the memory cards requirements are different for the two computers.

Also, will two 512 meg RAM cards work in a Pismo to total the RAM at 1024?

Thanks...Peace, Dave

If the lombard RAM is a PC66 SO-DIMM, then no, it won't work. This is probably the case. PC100 ram from a pismo will work in a lombard however. Also, two 512 chips will max out a pismo at 1 gb.

Is there a way to tell from looking at the chip. I sold my Lombard, so I can't re-intall it to check using Apple Profiler.

I assume it will not work as the chip is over a year and a half old.

Do you think it will work in a "Wall Street" Powerbook?

Lombards, Wallstreets, iBooks and tray-loading iMacs use the same RAM.

It is true, I have two PC 66 chips in my PwrBk Firewire right now.
Can't tell you how long it will run...

Well, considering how cheap PC100 RAM is now, I would just as soon buy new RAM, and keep the old RAM in the old computer.
