some guys from adult swim decided to promote the up and coming aqua teen hunger force movie by putting up around 12 light brights around the city of boston of the moon guys flipping you off. now, the fbi has been called in due to people thinking they are bombs, and the police are going nuts. the first one found (at a T stop) was blown up by a bomb squad. as i am typing this i hear helicopters over head. they are also closing down part of the Charles river because of this.
there are no bombs, all this is is a promotion for a movie that has gone wrong.

the news is not saying anything about the people who did this even getting an OKAY from the city.

Sounds like a casebook bomb to me. Well exposed, draws attention to itself and press releases with the promotional details.

Sounds like they didn't get approval from the city, and they also did it in others as well.

A bomb?? Maybe I need to take terrorism 101 again, but as I recall, bombs in this kind of scenario are generally hidden, and don't draw attention to themselves...

Holy crap that is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time! I love Adult Swim and I love ATHF. And the fact that these harmless little light-brights caused so much of a terror scare makes me laugh out loud. Man, good stuff.

No this is a rather typical bomb. They are all brightly coloured with blinking lights of a cartoon character giving a FU to draw lots of attention for days before it blows up killing nobody.

heh. i listened to a security guards walkie ,who's a friend of mine, and all the security people are laughing their asses off because of this.

If you know the show, its hilarious. That character is one of the best on the show. And being as how those characters make so much fun of us earthlings, its so perfect that we are all freaking out over this. Its almost a perfect plot for an episode.

Sounds like they are going to get a lot of publicity from this.

I love Aqua Teen, but I fear that this movie is going to suck horribly, much like the last few years of the show.

ps: the media are being VERY irresponsible labeling it as a "hoax." The light brights have apparently been up in various cities for weeks. They were not intended to look like bombs and cause such an uproar.
