iTunes isn't seeing it yet, but the impatient can download the file here.
Check TUAW or Engadget for discussion on just what it does (and what it breaks mod-wise).
I only came here figuring there was a thread already to make the following comment:
Restoring and watching how long it takes sure makes me miss Firewire.
That is all.

Nice, but I'm at work, and I don't wanna restore and lose all my music on it. I'll just wait 'till I get home.
(and the size of the iPhone with FW in it would make you wish it wasn't there )

Yeah, I downloaded it last night from Macrumors. I was having a lot of trouble with the phone being slow that restoring didn't help, so I was anxious to try the new update. Everything has been running smooth so far since the upgrade.
Only new features are really the international keyboard, and few minor things (shows Custom Ringtones and Standard Ringtones separately, instead of just lumping them together.) There's really nothing in it to convince Hackers to upgrade... but it is only a point update.

I just hate that for some reason, whenever I try and do these updates, I'm forced to do a restore instead of upgrade.

still no asian language input, don't know what the asian fonts are for. I guess it wasn't the real 1.1.2 update.

So why is this not available on iTunes yet? What are they waiting for?

can anyone verify the link posted on the internet is from apple? i don't know if this update is legitimate because i already notice some quirky things on my iphone after updating it. For anyone who has not apply this update, i suggest you don't until you can get it from itunes.

I suspect the digital signature on iPhone firmware hasn't been hacked, so I'd say the update is legitimately from Apple, though still not on iTunes (at least in the US). I'll wait until it is...

Yeah, it's definitely from Apple, as it was on their servers, but I understand your concern about only wanting to download from iTunes. I was thinking that at first too, but I was up late last night and couldn't resist.

Custom ringtones are back in 1.1.2. File must be an AAC file no longer than 40 seconds (IME). Change the .m4a extension to .m4r and double-click in the Finder. It will be added to the Ringtones playlist and will sync onto an iPhone. I hope Apple doesn't "fix" this again.

Does 1.1.2 really offer anything substantial that would provoke people into downloading it prior to its iTunes debut? From my understanding, there really isn't anything in this update to get so excited and eager about. Just wait for the official release...

no it's not. and i regret that i downloaded it. I thought i could finally be using the asian language input. but apparently the globe icon that showing up next to space bar is only for british english, french, italian and german.

After upgrading, my EDGE icon is now a blue box when in Safari or other apps, and a white box when in the home screen. No longer do I have the "E" in the box, unless I use Safari for a long period of time.
Any one else having this problem?

FYI, The only published security fix is the libtiff patch. It's possible there are others, but I think Apple only publishes vulnerability patches with CVE numbers.

Dang it, I guess we have to wait until it's released in China for Asian input.
