Hey guys,

I have a problem: I'm trying to copy some text from Preview to InDesign. The text is from a book, it is formatted and that's alright, but when I copy using the clipboard, suddenly the final document lacks some letters and sometimes numbers, or there are replaced by a box with a question mark within, stuff like that.

Any idea? My professor told us to use TextEdit and to copy the text into TextEdit and format as "pure text", but it doesn't work, the same formatting faults there. Can only hand-edit the texts which is some pain...

Any ideas?
Greetings,
PeterParker

Is the original document a PDF? It's possible some letters (dropcaps, etc) are in separate text boxes.

There might also be an encoding issue.
