The iPhone forum name change didn't get updated in the forum links at the bottom of the page. Not just the text, the link is dead too.
It also broke bookmarks, though that isn't as important.

Good deal! Only mentioned it in case it was an oversight.
Thanks!

I just searched using the find-posts link under your name, it worked fine. Were you searching while logged out? If so, that is a known bug that hit a couple weeks ago. Holiday-related stuff has been taking time from solving it.

No, the way I've always searched my posts is I go to the forums page and scroll all the way down to Who's Online and click on my name. This is how I've searched my own posts on forums for 12 years because it's the quickest way for me to search my most recent posts so that I don't wander aimlessly looking for my recent posts in all the threads... but I get an error message:
"This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view."
Therefore, I can't search my own posts.
Has no one else had this problem?

I see the problem, your user link is going to and-reg instead of and.reg. It was probably something in the conversion between forum software.
This will get you to your actual profile.

It's a problem with vbSEO URL rewrites. I can fix it, but only globally. ie - change the profile-link rewrite rule. At the moment, you can reach (almost) any profile via:
http :// forums.macnn.com / membername
And.reg's link works if typed manually, but board links are broken. A handful of other people are affected too, people with unusual characters in their names. I could change the rewrite rule to include the userID, or cancel rewrites on member profiles. But that will change the links for everyone, and the above shortcut may no longer work.
forums.macnn.com / member.php?u=73983 (vB native, no rewrite applied)
forums.macnn.com / members/73983.html
forums.macnn.com / members/username/userid/
The last option might be worth an experiment. Mainly to see if including just the username would work for most people.
We may revise our rewrite rules within a few months anyway. So I'd rather experiment then, than change our URLs twice.

Lots of "database" errors lately when trying to submit a response or even in attempting to access forum threads from time to time. Seemed to have started yesterday or the day before.

Advanced Search issue:
Having the same/similar issue that And.reg posted in early December. Advanced Search functionality not working. Doesn't matter which poster I specify. After entering search criteria and hitting "Search Now" button, I get nothing, but a blank, white page. I believe this had been working fine however, well past And.reg's posting of the problem. Meaning, I believe I successfully used Advanced Search within the past couple of weeks.
Same happens when trying to access through links in posts and through the formal, designated search options. Safari on MBA.

Fixed a template issue on the staff list page. The "PM staff" buttons actually work now.

Webserver or DB server screwed up during your post. The post table was updated, but the thread table wasn't. I fixed it manually for the fun of it.

Reader, do we need to pitch in for extra vitamins for the hampstor? Sounds like he's starting to miss stuff now and then.
However, I've had some issues on other boards over the last several days where I was certain I'd posted and nothing showed up. And yesterday, a very trusted site was telling me it had detected that my Internet connection was running slowly - but that site was the only thing going slowly. Maybe the Top Level Domain hampstors need vitamins...

Here's an ironic one.
The top banner ads are (on a seemingly random basis) getting displayed at quarter size.
I only use iPhone mobile Safari, so I'm not sure if the problem is wider spread than that.

No clue on that one. Our templates include an insert point for the banner ad. The banner code should all come from the ad server, wherever that is. Or your browser could be shrinking it, when it exceeds a certain pixel width. I'd expect a softer scaling though, not a 1/4 shrink.
er, randomly smaller banner ads. Are you complaining, or is this a compliment?

Yeah, I've seen that, too. Oddly, when I see the top banner ad small, it's often accompanied by the same ad as one of those monster pop-ups (also in iOS)

Which forum? There are a couple settings in your UserCP that control that, from default age view, to default items-per-page settings. Default age setting for most forums is threads bumped in the last 30 days, plus any stickies or announcements.
I'm guessing you visited a low-traffic forum, where there were only 10 current threads?

I tested the bump, no pain or discomfort. What next?

Were the missing posts made on Friday Jan 20? The DB server overloaded that day, affecting a bunch of 'NN sites. We were offline for a couple hours, and slow/glitchy before that.
I'm not seeing any deleted posts. If you kept copies of the text, I'd be interested in searching for them in the DB. In case they got entered, but with missing info. If the thread ID were missing, they would be orphan posts.
Edit: n/m, found one. Post info looks complete, rebuilding threads info.
Edit2: That did it.
