Today, the last person I know who's likely to ask me about computer problems went Mac - I just went and installed their new mini for them.

No more Windows - ever. Awesome.

I don't mind that. It's having to arse about with Windows that I hate.

So it’s not possible for one of them to want to install parallels, or partition a part of their computer with windows?

Congrats! It must be liberating.
Many years ago I decided never to help people with windows, but to always help Mac users for free. Doesn't matter if it is family, if they use windows I don't touch it.

Good on you!

I know what a great feeling it is. A few years ago finally everyone in even my extended family switched to OS X. Over the months, I wrote up a quick document explaining the basics of OS X that aren't covered in Apple's standard little manuals. Now that my whole family runs OS X, nowadays they just talk among themselves instead of asking me like in the beginning. It's a good circle. Plus, most of them are running the exact same systems and I recommended them all the same networking gear, printers, etc. so I don't have to remember who has what if they do run into issues. Pretty much everyone has an iMac Core 2 Duo or better with AirPort Extremes, LaCie externals, and Canon MP970 printers. Woot!

It's basically come to a point where I haven't got a clue what's going on in the Windows world. Yet because "I'm good at computers" (compared with regular folk), I still got asked to help out when problems hit. Got tired of saying "I don't know", because it doesn't do my genius image any favours.

This last one has a Parallels Win 2000 install on it, but I took the liberty of making a copy of the "clean and ready to go" virtual disk (1) on their system and (2) on a USB drive. So, it's an easy task to reset the thing if anything goes wrong - just tell them to copy the clean file in and then restore data from backup.
