I have a 15 inch 2.53ghz CD2 4gb 500gb hdd. I really want a new 17inch i7. How can I get the most for my MacBook Pro to put towards the new machine?
Gazelle is only offering 845... I know depreciation happens, but that is super low for such a powerful well taken care of machine.
Any thoughts.

Hey what year did you buy the machine? is it one of the newer unibody machines or the old matte ones? I wouldn't advise selling electronics to online websites as the prices are always lower then what you could get, depending on you machine it may be better to simply sell it on craigslist. Go ahead and look around craigslist and see what the prices are for similar machines, craigslist will probably be you best bet, also check out everymac.com they give info on macs and some of it may come in handy when you sell your machine.

As 'Strong' said, give craigslist a try! I was reluctant, thinking no one wants my computer though well taken care of... Turned out I sold it in 8 hours and 400 bucks over what Gazelle offered me for it!

It is a newer mbp in perfect condition. Thanks a lot, I will check out that site. I just want the most for it as I know it is great. What are the thoughts of going Ssd and getting much better performance and not wanting to upgrade to i7 17 inch high res good times!

As for the speed, the difference is beyond words. Startup down from 30 seconds to 12. Apps launch instantaneously and everything downloads super fast. I highly recommend it despite the smaller size [Mine is a CRUCIAL NOVA 128GB SSD with I believe 270/190MB specs.]

I sold the last MBP before unibody came out 15 inches, 2.4Ghz, 200GB HDD. I'm beyond anal when it comes to scratches so you'd literally consider it brand new.

Thanks for the ideas. I am currently selling mine on craigslist and I have lots of interest and it looks like it will sell for exactly what I want to get. Makes getting the new core i7 17 that I don't need very easy
