An additional nine US Apple Stores will be open during the Thanksgiving holiday, a report indicates. Typically, only three locations stay active during Thanksgiving: Fifth Avenue in New York, Forum Shops in Las Vegas, and Royal Hawaiian in Honolulu. For 2013, though, worker schedules
point to West 14th (New York), Lincoln Road (Miami Beach), San Francisco, Pioneer Place (Portland, Oregon), The Grove (Los Angeles), Third Street Promenade (Santa Monica), Fashion Valley (San Diego), and Ala Moana (Honolulu) keeping sales going.
On Black Friday, some Apple Stores will open as early as 3AM. Most though will open at 6AM, even if other stores in the same complex are accepting people earlier. Sources say that the problem is that some malls charge a penalty fee for opening outside of regular hours.
Apple is presumably trying to reap more profits from Thanksgiving, which is the most crucial shopping season not only for Apple but most American retail businesses. The company tends not to engage in the same deep discounts that its rivals and resellers do, but it does offer some minor sales to lure in extra shoppers.
