I'm not sure. I've been debating for a while... Is this 17" too big? I tend to pick up my iBook alot more often for the little things. The 15" has a larger hard drive. My goal was always to get an external monitor for the big stuff. I tend not to want to drag around the 17" all the time. Let's say I break even, is it a lateral move aside from the size, or should I just stick with the 17" and not risk regret?

I know AssassyN traded, but he's on campus- I'm just a workin' girl...

Any thoughts?

I sold my 17" on ebay yesterday to get the new 15".
I really liked the 17" but it was just too big for me. The 15" has a bigger hard drive which also made it worth it to me.
My new powerbook shipped and I should get it on Monday.

For me.... NO. But for you, sure if you think the 17inch is too big for you.

The new 15 is the best thing in the PB line in my opinion. I'm going to sell my 12 and buy a new 15 superdrive

You should be able to trade straght across financially. You'll lose 2 inches but gain a little speed, larger hard drive, more ram capacity and brand new. Wow, that almost tempts me but , oh, how I love my 17. The 17 is maybe a little heavy for girls.

No its not fair to say it has less ram capacity and you can upgrade hard drive,

okay you got me I do agree it is a little heavy for the girly-man

but hey why are people asking permission to do as they wish... get a new 15" GO for it!

New 15": 80 Gig hard drive, 1.25 Gz G4, USB 2.0, and I think upgradable RAM to 2 Gigs.

old 17" can also have up to 2 Gigs of ram

Just put 2 - 1gig modules in the thing

so the answer is no not worth it all that much

Just do it and be happy

I stand corrected on the RAM but I didn't know you can upgrade the hard drive. Care to elaborate? How much $, etc.

Considering you'd come out next to even financially, I'd say go for it. You'll lose some inches, but gain some mobility...plus a bunch of new features. Go for it

This is exactly what I am doing. I had to have one for school so I bought the 17" about 4 weeks ago. It was a requirement for my degree. So far we havent used them yet, so my 17" has about 20 hours on it, and I can't take it back. I am selling it on ebay for a new one. The new radeon card is worth the hassle for me. Besides, I signed up for ADC so it's only $2000.

The new 15 is sweet. Highly recommended. If you can get the right price for the 17" Rev. A, then I'd do it.

Thanks all. I've invested a few days in REALLY trying to use this thing. I do use it more. But when it comes to even just going out on my porch, it's just too awkward. Plus I have a bad back and I can't even stand up from my chair while holding it. Let's see how it goes. If I can't break even, I'll reconsider.

I wanna clean it up a little- no scratches, just marks. What do you reccommend so I can get it ready for its new owner.

i got a chance to play with a 17"-er recently and as much as i loved it, i think it's a tad too large for me to carry around on a daily basis. the 15" is the way to go.

Because I am happy with my 17" I would rather see the big picture and wait for the G5 Powerbook which some say will be arriving at the end of next year. But the 17" may be to big for a woman, depending on her size and strength. For me it's a no brainer; I really feel I would be dissappointed trading down to a smaller machine and the new version 17" at this time just is not enough of an improvement over my "old" 17".
