This morning I was using my powerbook (rev A 12" bought in April of 2003 if that helps at all) it was not plugged into the wall and was only plugged into my printer via usb. I opened Adobe to print a document and midway through printing my computer shut off. At first I thought it went to sleep but there was no sleep light and no audible noise coming from the computer. I pressed the start button and nothing happened...Any ideas??

a crash, maybe...
or battery run down.
probably not serious, it happens.
hit apple-control-power button together (maybe a few times) until you hear the startup chime, and...go back to work.
plug in first! and check your battery level, that might be all it is.

Thanks for the speedy reply... It actually was plugged into the wall right before I plugged it into the printer and the battery was full. I immediately plugged it back into the wall thinking that it was a battery problem, I actually tried all of the troubleshooting stuff in the user's guide suggests and nothing has worked. The lights on the bottom of the battery are on...I'm so sorry if I sound really stupid but I don't quite understand how the battery would keep it from turning on if it is plugged into the wall.

two or three times my pb has crashed, where, when i go to wake it from sleep, the screen stays black (but i can, for instance, turn on the caps lock lite).
so...the only way i can get back to work:
command-control-power (sometimes 2 or 3 times); ie a reset.
try that.

Take the battery out, unplug it from the wall and leave it for a few hours, or overnight. Then reset the power manager a few times. I have heard this to help in a few circumstances.
