Hey guys:

I have 3 internal HDs + my boot. Since upgrading to Lion I now have to authenticate every time I want to copy or move anything to, from, or around these drives. It's actually really annoying because I use them all day long. In the info bar for all of them Admins and my own user have R&W capabilities, I have tried many of the suggested sudo chown commands, rebooting, etc. nothing works. In disk utility, the only disk I have the option to repair permissions with is my boot drive, all the other drives are greyed out for this option.

Any ideas? Like I said: really, really annoying.

Jesse
I miss the days of the G5 and XPS Pentium 4 running side by side as high-end machines.

I get the same annoying "authenticate" nearly every time I move files & folders, and they are not system folders !

I'm going to try this, found elsewhere...

Simply highlight the hard drive - open an "apple i" window on the hard drive. change permissions to read and write. Then use disk utility - and repair permissions on the hard drive. the problem goes away.

Can't you set the Finder to ignore permissions on the two non-root drives?
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
