Hey something some people have been calling for is the death of the 15 inch entirely... honestly I think this is dumb. One thing I am thinking about is the fact that the power books are going to soon be using a new samsung display I think it is, which is 15.4 inchs and it supports a higher resolution than the 15 inch iMac I believe. Anyone think this would be a nice change to the iMac? Instead of getting rid of it, mak it compete a bit better as far as how much you fit on your screen and make it look better with fonts and what not... who knows if it'll happen but it'd be cool... nott o mention a 15 inch wide screen on an iMac would be spiffy too.

Actually I was waiting for Apple to come out with a higher resolution 15" screen on the imac this past MWSF but it didn't happen. It would certainly make text look better. I can only assume that they're trying to empty their inventory of current 15" LCDs before upgrading it. The 15.2" PB LCD would actually look very nice on an imac...wonder if Apple could port it to the half dome. I also think the 15" screen looks better on the imac then the 17", more symmetrical and balanced, and seems to fit better in tight workstations, the perfect consumer/office desktop. Now if only they could give it some pentium 4 speed...

Why would you want Pentium 4 speed? When in some vs. the P3 beats it out? Or how about the trusty AMD? Just because it says it fast, and all this new multithreading technology they have come out with, Apple's G4's are still a step ahead.

Just curious; where do you get your fact that the PB is soon coming with a 15.4 inch Samsung display? Do you work for Apple?
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

P3, P4, AMD, 970, anything to give it a little more turbo.

cough PPC 970 cough...

and no I'm not SURE about the new samsung display but there are certain things apple's manufacturers have posted on their websites that suggest the new Alu Books will have 15.4 inch screens that acctually run at a SLIGHTLY lower resolution than the 15.2 inch PBs, still better than the iMac's 15 inch screen.

Am I an apple employee? No it'd break an NDA if I said something like that to someone. Hence no I'm not but it's very likely that this will happen.

the blue tooth on the 17 inch is built in... the blue tooth on the 15 inch is just something you plug into the USB port on the iMac. so you end up with one less of your three USB ports.
It works just as well... it's just a little dongle.

Basically it just shows that the new 15 inchers are just the old ones sans super drive.
