The first picture that pops up is me, and many of the other pictures and links. But that's with the standard "moderate safe search on." If I turn it off, all hell breaks loose.

A digital effects artist (check IMDB)-interestingly, when I was in high school, I wanted to be a special effects technician
And a sales manager in New South Wales

...But I'm not any of them. I don't come up in Google at all. And nobody has pictures of any of the above "Glenn Porter"s online.

Googling my name with image search brings up a picture of me as the first hit.

And even with SafeSearch off, nothing even remotely resembling pr0n shows up.

My surname is unique to my family (of which there aren't that many) and my full name is unique to me. There were a total of 13 google hits on my name, none of them a picture of me. Here's the first:

I can't figure out why this image got a hit. My first name isn't anywhere to be found on or with the image.

8 out of first 10 (including 1st link) google web: me

my blog and personal stuff didn't show up until the 2nd page though.

3 total hits for my complete full name in quotes (all me).

77 total hits for my shortened first name plus last in quotes (most were me). the rest belong to the other person with my name; all pages are in dutch and i can't read them.

1832 total hits for my complete full name with no quotes (7 on the first page was me).

6660 total hits for my shortened first name plus last with no quotes (2 on the first page was me).

my name isn't found in my state's online sex offender or prison records (any spelling) so thankfully i'm not confused with some criminal in "the system"

Using quotes on my first name, middle initial and last name, Google gets TWO hits. The first one is ME-I signed up to have my name, my wife's and our son's micro-etched on the Stardust probe. The other says that I died in 1973 in Texas. I had not ever been to Texas in 1973, so obviously that's the wrong me. Using my full name, I get more hits, but two are from an interview with a lady whose family included someone with my full name who had "died about fifteen years ago." The rest were about a 71-year old guy from Athens, Tennessee who had gone missing for a couple of weeks and then just showed up again.

Neither form of my name had any images. I guess that's a good thing, considering some of the places and situations my picture has been taken in.

If just googling my name I'm the first links for sure. As far as images goes...I'm on the AIGA Board here and our President is a fiend for tagging every f'ing event photo on FLickr with the names of the people in the photos. Well, we sponsor happy hours at least once a month and of course I'm in most of them, so for the longest whiel when you GISd my name the first couple pages were just photos of me in bars.

Thats great when you're interviewing.
