I will be making the switch soon, but needed help finding more information on what HTML & FTP programs are available on the Mac version? I have heard/read about BBEdit and the Mac version of Dreamweaver MX 2004 but was wondering what else was out there? Is there a free mac HTML editor like that of Windows' Notepad? What are some good FTP software programs? I would appreciate any help or comments.

Transmit is a very nice FTp client, costs $24.95. Persoanlly though I just use the built-in command line ftp client. Handels every FTP server I throw at it, has some cool features like bandwidth throttling and it's free.
For editing I can highly recommend the free SubEthaEdit.

I use the exact same programs for my site, both work great.

I use Fetch for FTP and SkEdit for HTML work.
Sean at skti is very approachable and is constantly improving his product. It already has some very nice features that I like.

The developer tools contain a carbonized version of simple text, It works for most of what I need.

Thanks for the help everyone :o) Also, just wondering if AppleWorks is included when purchasing a new PowerBook or is it something one has to purchase seperately?

It's included on all new machines.
skEdit looks very nice, especially from a student developer. I wish I had time to work on my software projects... Maybe I will seeing as I'm soon to become a jobless ex-student. Ok it's not that bad, I'm only just beginning to look for a job.

AppleWorks is included with all CONSUMER machines. So you get it with the iMac, the eMac, and the iBook, but NOT with Powerbooks and Powermacs.
I would suggest that you consider whether you need Appleworks before you spend money on it. It's not that great.

Since I'm "switching" I assumed that AppleWorks would be the equivalent of MS Word, etc. - Or am I wrong? Of course, I know I can purchase Office X but would rather use that money for other accessories or software that I may need.

Agree with the recommendations made. I also use JEdit for html editing and Perl coding.
