My daughter has a 12" Powerbook 1.5 Mhz with 1.25 Gb RAM, running OS 10.4.4. She has it set up with 2 logins: administrator and other. I installed an update of a software for her today and then rebooted - that's when the problem started.
The powerbook started a normal boot:
1) Apple Logo
2) screen-Starting Mac OS X
3) the login window flashes on the screen
4) then... a Full screen terminal window that says:
Darwin/BSD (Powerbook12.local) (console)
login:
I can login, but of course stay in the terminal
If I 'exit', the login window flashes.. then back to the terminal login. I know some unix, but not a whole lot.
I have tried Disk Repair and Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility, resetting passwords, removing 3rd party RAM, resetting PRAM & firmware.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
