All but 3 locations in the States sold out of iPhones

The rest of the world sold out of iPhones before they even went on sale 10 days ago.

Ironic that Apple should call the OS after big cats as a leopard doesn't change it's spots

Late last week I went to buy my partner an iPhone (I was one of the lucky few who scored one on the first day) and was told that the wait for the wait (in Sydney) was now 4+ weeks.

And before the Britney's of this forum start posting I'll finish with a single recent reminder - iPhone v1.0 never made it much further than the USA.

How is what exactly ironic about this?

And what does this have to do with global availability vs. the limited distribution of the earlier iPhone (which, btw, started selling like crazy in GB and Germany the second they switched to subsidized contracts)?

I'm not getting the OP's point as well.

I can see why Apple did not gear up its distribution channel to produce a million iPhones a day because that pace will not continue. Why produce more product then you'll sell. Once th dust settles ether in August, or maybe September, availability will be what everyone expects. Till then patience is the word of the day.

So whats ironic about Apple calling its OS as leopard?

I think this is some kind of encrypted message from the future warning us about something.

This has gone over about as well as 90% of my threads. Wow.

The OP needs to clarify just what it is he/she is talking about.

That's what people said about the Wii.

Nah, just kidding. The Wii's different. Nintendo has not ramped up production a whole lot and they're purposely making just as many as they can sell and no more. Even Apple's highest-demand products have always become easily available within a few months. Last one I remember taking a long time was the iPod Mini, which was introduced in January and wasn't easily available until summer.

I was sort of wondering the same. My usual tactic of replacing “Britney” with “fake blonde crackheads who can’t sing” didn’t really work so well in this case.

Really, I hadn't noticed. I got a PS3 but when ever I went into a store that carried the Wii, they seemed to have the consoles in stock.

Nintendo actually doubled Wii production a while ago, it just didn't make any difference. Supply still has not caught up to demand.

They are selling 600 - 700k a month. That's an insane amount. Bumping up production at this point would probably not be in their best interest.

I can only assume that "Britney's" (sic) refers to the "Leave Britney ALOOOONE!"-style whiners.

I'm gonna guess that Britney is the Australian equivalent of Tory in the US. A loyalist.

I can decipher.

He's pissed that the rest of the world doesn't have enough iPhones, because he envisions an Apple conspiracy to hate the rest of the world.

Here's a simplified answer to it:
Apple's largest single market is the US. They account for most of the sales, so, of course, they get the most stock. Apple's not doing it to shun the rest of the world.
