As you all know it can now access shared photo's music and video but what was not mentioned is that performance is greatly improved, even on old systems that aren't supported (that was nice of Apple).

It now runs like a dream (absolutely no stuttering) on my stock 1st gen. Mac mini, feels a lot more refined.

you gotta be kidding...
if front row isn't on your Mac, then your advise is wrong, and it is an illegal move also, so, stop telling everybody that steal is good, because it isn't.

Please provide a link to the page on Apple's web site where it is available for download.

Thanks!

I don't see any Front Row link at www.apple.com. Why not include the actual link instead of saying it's at the top of the page?

P.S. The link the OP provides is for an update, not a full install.

Apple doesn't offer Front Row as a standalone full install. It only comes with a new Mac.

There seems to have been a lot of issues with that Enabler. I had to reinstall 10.4.5, as I lost all the applets (time, spotlight, etc) up in the top right corner.
Stay clear until it's no longer a beta.

The enabler is unsupported by Apple but it certainly isn't illegal. Some of you need to remove the oversized obstruction from your backside. Good grief.

Ouch.

I had no problems with the previous enabler. Has anyone else had problems with the new enabler?

I noticed a major increase in performance on my 1.83 GHz MBP, as well.

Neither is theming, so is SS or any of the themes illegal?

HA! c'mon!

if you buy SS and download it legally, then it's OK. I bet that with a license paid, you will be getting support for it. but for frontrow, Apple is not selling that software, so the plan is to provide it inside new Macs only, answer this, why you will need a third party software to install Front Row? easy, because it wasn't made for your Mac... Duh! but hey! next time I will shut my mouth, ignore my impulses and just read, that way people don't get mad at me. I'm not "Pope Benedict 18" you know... I just saying.... Damn!

I had that problem too, but I reinstalled the enabler and the front row update, and it worked, giving me back the icons at the top right. I freaked for a few minutes.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS ENABLER.

Like the others, I lost the little menu bar icons on my iBook, but they wouldn't come back after a restart or a reinstall of the enabler/update.

I finally had to reinstall the 10.4.5 combo update too. What a frackin' waste of time.

That said, I had installed it on my Cube first, and it worked there. I had to install it twice though for some reason. So, even there I had problems.

Wait until it goes non-beta. I guess I should have listened to B Gallagher in the first place.

Don't drag me into your strange little argument. As soon as the enabler is non-buggy, I am installing it.

FWIW I had Front Row installed already, and all I had to do was download the Front Row Updater from Apple and install it using Pacifist. No need to re-enable.

When I tried it the fist time, as you'll see in my earlier post, it didn't work at all.
However, since I managed to get 10.4.5 back up to what it was before I tried to install Front Row, I thought what the hell, no harm in giving it another try.

And this time it worked like a charm. No problems whatsoever. So give it a shot.

That link, and this one, along with the main link, are all worth a read before you try anything. Just to make sure you know what you're doing.

Lost my icons too. I'll reinstall 10.4.5 later and try again. Maybe the security update?

I reinstalled 10.4.5, then the enabler. My icons are back, but it doesn't seem to work. Front Row is now listed in the Keyboard Shortcuts of Sys Prefs, but when I press cmd-esc, the menu icons disappear for a few seconds and then come back, but nothing happens. I'm running on a PM G5/1.8.

I keep getting server unavailable when I try to access the movie trailers through Front Row. Works fine through iTunes but not through Front Row. Seems a lot of people have had this problem. Anyone have a solution? I'm using this on a MacBook Pro so it's not a hacked version.

What annoys me is they haven't added a preference to choose which monitor you want Front Row displayed on. So damn annoying.

Another restart fixed things. I haven't played with FR extensively and from the reviews of previous versions I'm glad I waited until this version. It is incredibly cool! The interface was quick and responsive on my PM G5/1.8 and everything worked as expected. The movie trailers feature is beautiful, filling my 19" screen with widescreen video almost instantly and playing through without a hitch. How come it doesn't work that well from the iTMS? I've read about all of the server not responding errors, but I haven't seen any yet.

Managed to install the update and it certainly makes frontrow a little "snappier" on my G5 iMac (Rev A).
The movie trailers link still doen't work for me though.
My two pence worth on the is it stealing debate, Apple makes the update available for anyone to download, someone else writes a piece of software that enables it to run on older macs such as mine. If i enjoy using it maybe i will update my iMac a little earlier than planned (i emphasise maybe) as i enjoy the benefits of frontrow, thus keeping the pennies coming in for Apple. Also i may purchase sailing clicker which keeps someone else happy. I haven't stole anything or downloaded pirated software and potentially the only thing that may get damaged is my mac if there was a nasty bug in the software.

So far I can't even get it to work with the instructions he has on his website and now his website is down. (probably because of all the hits)
