I was doing a "get info" on a folder and saw little "no access" signs on the LEFT side of the users/groups part of the window (next to the . I've never seen this... As far as I can tell, there is no negative impact. I can see everything and have access to everything I should, it seems. No matter what file/folder/volume I do the "get info" on, I get the same results....the little red circle with the minus sign on all of the users/groups listed! I've repaired permissions to no avail.

Running a 2.66GHz MacPro with OS 10.6.2.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

I think some resources are missing or corrupted on your system. That is not a "no access" sign but rather a "missing" resource sign.
I would re-install the OS (archive retaining your user settings and data).

Somebody else may have a method for just restoring what's missing/corrupted.

Have you tried a theming utility, such as candybar or shapeshifter? Or installed a custom icon pack?
