1) I always want to have comments enabled on all finder windows. So for 15 years, I command J on many of them and then click box for comments. Anyway to just have comments as default checked for all?
2) Mojave, the finder window has this new white column of far right that previews. How do I get rid of it? It's not on my laptop (for some reason), but on all finder window on desktop. Thanks.

1) In List view: command-J, Show Columns: [x] Comments, click button at bottom [Use as Defaults]
2) In Column or Gallery views: command-J, [x] Show preview column

Reader thanks, comments seems to stick which is good.
What is "use relative date"
The killer is preview wont stick, wont go away, no matter how much I deselect it,
It's unchecked yet shows preview and always keeps the annoying preview window on the right.
I'm on 10.14.4 and have rebooted.
Ah spoke too soon, even comments check will be unchecked 10 min later on all windows even after clicking use a defaults, No luck with either issue.
Mac finders does what it wants to do. amazing 2019, and have such glitches.

use relative dates:
For recent dates: show "yesterday" or "today" instead of actual date.
