Hi,

I am about to make the jump to the Intel Mac world and I think I have set my mind on a Black MacBook 2Gig RAM...I am not a big gamer few hours of WOW but that is it...I do a little Photoshop and probably some little movie editing now with iMovie 08.

My main concern is the switch to Intel and the software I own now to run on the MacBook. Again I would like to be able to run MS Word Excel, iWork06, Photoshop 7, WOW, Toast...and some other dumb down apps...are there any problems running these apps from the G4 world to the Intel one?

Thanks...

All your current apps will work fine.

Office *still* isn't universal, so no problem there.

iWork '06 is universal, and I believe WoW and Toast (version 7 and 8) are universal with free updates.

Photoshop would require an upgrade, but whatever you have would work decent enough on the MacBook.

Even running rosetta, the extra processor power of the C2D should give you a moderate speed boost over your PB.

Might wanna keep an eye on the refurbs online: Up until a few minutes ago, there was a 2.16 MBP refurb for the same price as the new BlackBook. Refurbs come and go very quickly, so you gotta be ready to jump as soon as you see it...

That's a great jump!

I had a 12" iBook that always felt a bit confining, and a 15" Powerbook which was a bit too much for my bad back to lug around. The 13" Macbook is the porridge that Goldilocks ate

MS Office STILL isn't universal??? Jeez!

I use NeoOffice anyway. All those apps you listed should be fine.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
