Let Jonathan Ives do the right thing with the taiwanese pseudo-hifi decoration rubbish, put a dual-core Yonah in there and, if it has to be, an Apple TPM chip so OS X is enabled to run, trim some weight maybe, and this would be a rather nice 17" PB: Asus W2V.

I'd really like to have its 1680 x 1050 resolution...

holy sweet jesus batman. that is one fine notebook. i'd say the design is not that far from our 17" Powerbook. it's one of the nicest PC notebooks i've ever seen, and it seems like the the features doesn't disappoint either.

I dun think so. Look at the 'enlargement' -- the machine has the funkiest shape from the side, JACKS FOR AUDIO ON THE FRONT (read: NOT good for when you're actually using the machine), the palm rest area so blatantly rips off the powerbook design (the 'ditch' before the keyboard)...and uh yeah..

It aint that bad. Granted that, it probably has the same build quality of my powerbook, but it certainly aint no powerbook..

IMHO it looks a little more fun, but all those edges and nicks mean something's bound to crack or break off.

That's where Mr. Ives comes into play

If my currency converting is accurate, that box would go for about $3700US.

I'd like to see the functionality of this guy inside a Mac PB. And keep the price just a bit under $3k US.

Just an ibook user here, but the best thing about genuine Mac notebooks is clean clean clean. Take a look at the underside of most others and you will see bulges, screws, slots, big feet and other not so thoughtful touches. Kinda like the underside of a car. Note they don't show the underside here.

Kinda like a Bang & Olufsen system. I like it, except the god awful audio ports in the front.

I guess it's alright, but then you take a look at the profile, and you just want to throw up... reminds me of something akin to a tape deck from the 80's... especially the very large round feet in the front.

(And no, that wasn't a compliment you metal-heads)
