My Ibook has just started to do some weird things. When I go to shut it, it dims at about the 45 degree closed area. When I start it up, sometimes it flashes a brown color before the desktop comes up. Does anybody have any ideas? Where should I start?
Thanks,
Shermlock

I think I had similar problems with my 500MHz iBook. Towards the end of its life (it died a premature death at age 1.7yrs) the screen would have trouble turning on when coming out of sleep mode. I would also have problems where it would flash blue (like when you plug in an external monitor and the screen resets) when I would handle it certain ways.

My best guess was that the screen problems came from either:

A.) When I spilled Coke on my keyboard.

B.) A loose connection from the motherboard/video card to the screen.

C.) Some later iBooks had problems with faulty motherboards that had to be replaced.

If it's still under warranty/apple care, take it in. If not, you'll probably just have to live with it since it's most definitely a hardware problem.
