Hmm, reading that article reminded me of how it felt to be one of those coveted "early adopters" when I spent $400(?) for my 5GB iPod years ago. I felt like the coolest person around. Few knew what it was, and everyone wanted one.

I think I'll put that iPod on display when I get my 4G, instead of selling it or handing it off.

If I still had my original 5GB, I would definitely be hanging on to it. It's not worth enough to sell and it really is THE cultural icon. Alas, I sold it 2 years ago for my shiny new 20 GB.

I hear ya loud and clear.
Definitely hanging onto mine. I'm pretty proud to have been an "early-adopter" for something that has significantly revolutionized music listening all across the board.

I hope more people see your post, GORDYmac, and decide to do the same. For now, I'll use it for data backup I think. To keep it "employed".

BTW, named the 4G "Carbon Existence". The 1G is named "Arbitrary Circumstance". Read a lot of Iain M Banks novels.
