Garmin has announced that its premium navigation apps for iOS, Navigon and StreetPilot, will be available at a 50 percent discount on Black Friday. Garmin's premium apps offer a range of features not included in its free app versions, such as being able to store map information locally on the iPhone.

StreetPilot Onboard iPhone USA and North America, providing users with advanced GPS navigation, trip planning and emergency location information, are due to be priced at $25 and $30 respectively. Navigon USA (discounted to $25), North America (priced at $30) and US East ($15) also feature comprehensive GPS navigation, and additionally are compatible with Garmin's new Head-Up Display. Black Friday sales begin this Friday, November 29.

Client app for Reddit, Biscuit, offers simplified viewing, iOS 7 styling

Biscuit, an iOS client app for Reddit, has been released, offering a focused, cleaner viewing experience than Reddit's original web format. Using an "infinite canvas" design, Biscuit arranges thread comments in two dimensions -- horizontally, for argument points, and vertically to read immediate replies. Interaction is simplified through color-coding of "friend" users to follow in discussions, and single-gesture voting and replying is enabled.

Created as a native iOS 7 app, Biscuit's typography, white space layout, pacing, colors and gestures can be likened to iOS 7 overall aesthetics. The app's use of a golden brown color theme is intended to emphasize a visually comfortable reading environment. Since its original release, several improvements and new features have been added to Biscuit, such as a night mode, new gestures, and more. Available for $4, Biscuit can be downloaded from iTunes.
