Verizon has updated its prepaid mobile phone offerings, by launching a set of new plans with upgradeable data options. The
Allset plans provide basic set services depending on the device, with customers able to pay for an extra allocation of data called "Bridge Data" that adds to the existing amount and can carry over from month to month.
The main Allset plan offers smartphone users unlimited talk and text with 500MB of data for $45 per month, which also includes unlimited texting to Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The same plan is also available for basic phones, with an alternative $35 monthly option exchanging the unlimited minutes for a 500-minute allotment. For a limited time, Verizon is also including an allocation of 1,000 minutes per month for calls to Canada and Mexico for all $45 Allset customers as a limited-time offer.
Verizon Allset Plans and Bridge Data bundle costs
Customers requiring more data will be able to pay for Bridge Data bundles, which will only start to get used once the main allocation of data has been exhausted, and will roll over between months until the pack expires. The 500MB pack costs $5 and has a 30-day expiry, while the 1GB and 3GB packs offer 90 days of usage, priced at $10 and $20 respectively.
Sadly, neither the Allset plans nor Bridge Data bundles offer connectivity to
Verizon's LTE data network, leaving customers on the service using an LTE-capable device surfing at 3G speeds.
