I was looking at my bandwidth speed and on the MEM of iStat menu it showed 640MB Free, well I checked used and YIKES!!! my 3GB RAM is only 2GB! I checked About this Mac confirmed 2GB, checked System Profiler and my OWC RAM I bought last April is only showing 512MB per DIMM. I reboot same thing, pull riser re-seat, same thing. I boot up and see a red light on Riser B (lower level). Call OWC they are closed today.
Suggestions? I've never had this happen before. Should I consider AppleCare as I already had the 1900XT video card become loud and had to clean it out.
Here's a picture to show what I am talking about

if it's OWC RAM that's malfunctioning, it's them you have to deal with.

I am figuring that, but I want to see if it's anything else before loosing RAM (sending in to another country etc).

Call OWC and they will replace it if it is under warranty. Remove the DIMM immediately.

Well flipped the modules around and it's working, but then this morning woke up with 2GB RAM showing, but this time on Riser 1 the red light was showing and the 2x512MB dimms weren't showing. Shutdown, reseated and it's all showing again. Now what? is it the Mac Pro or the OWC RAM? 2x512MB came with the Mac.

Take the chip that you suspect is bad out, and leave it out. Move your other chips into slots 1 & 2. Reboot a few times, shutdown, startup, see if they're registering correctly.
