just got my new 256MB module in the mail, but my ibook 366 tells me that there is a "problem" when i boot up, and the system doesn't see the memory. DIMM first aid tells me the module might be faulty, and i thought maybe i needed a firmware update (i'm running os9.0.4), but nope, the computer says i don't need the update. anyone exlse experienced this problem? is there a fix i'm missing, or is the ram junk?
thanks.

If you needed the firmware update, the RAM wouldn't be recognized properly. It would probably work, but be seen by the system as having a smaller capacity (probably 128MB). Your problem sounds like a bad memory stick. You should be able to get it replaced for free.

get back on the inside, re-socket the RAM, and make SURE the RAM is seated firmly
