Just curious if there's a transfer limit when you use .Mac Homepage. I'm thinking of putting some vids up and am curious if I don't have to worry about transfer limits...

Apple has always been very coy about quoting bandwidth limits and have implied it should be "adequate for normal use."

Normal use does not include business use. The .Mac terms of use make it clear that it is intended for personal use and say ".Mac is not intended to be used to host e-commerce businesses for marketing, promotions and sales".

I remember this happening several times...

somebody posts a funny movie of some sort that is popular and a day or so latter it gets passed around enough and they reply in the thread..."sorry apple sent me an email saying i exceeded bandwidth"

but i digress it hasn't happened in awhile. but i'm waiting for apple to make an ad campaign people can parody...

My feeling is Apple won't do anything unless the bandwith use is outrageous.

You know, I get about 6 hits a day and they haven't shut me down. Still up and running.

So they do cap the bandwidth they just won't say at what point? Hmmm sounds familiar...kind of like Shaw cable back when I had it

Oh well. My devious plan did consist of posting popular videos on there for linking in forums or when the need arose. Unlimited bandwidth combined with superfast servers would have been cool.

I've seen it in the past but not lately. I forget what the limit was, but someone did find out. It may have changed since then.

As far as I know, since the service stopped being fee, the bandwidth limits were lifted.

Obviously if they see you as abusing it you will get a smack.
