Like many media obsessors, I have a rather large collection of media stored locally on my computer. However, I wanted to be able to easily stream said media to my HDTV out in the living room easily without throwing down for an AppleTV.
My current solution was to install MediaLink and route it through my PS3, yet I'm totally dissatisfied with the solution. The software offers very little configuration, and I'm left with a rather disorganized heap of media in the PS3 interface, despite my almost OCD-level of metadata and file name organizing.
When I share by folder, the PS3 sorts album tracks and TV episodes within seasons alphabetically by the information stored in the "Title" metadata with no regard to track or episode numbers (my TV episodes are double-tagged with both track and episode numbers, for the record).
When I share my iTunes library, it's just a mess. Music is sorted okay, but movies and TV episodes seem to follow pretty arbitrary organization rules that I can't pin down to any sort of system on my computer.
I'm either looking for a way to fix my frustrations with MediaLink or an entirely different UPnP server management tool altogether. Any ideas would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
