Well, I am very happy that Steve gave me a free iSight (sorry to rub it in). I would like to keep this thread just to software to use with/enhance the iSight experience.

Here is what I've found that will work (gathering from other posts--not my own research):

EvoCam 3.1
http://www.evological.com/evocam.html

iVisit
http://198.170.245.60/framing/frameset3.html

iMovie DOES NOT work. I guess this is because iSight does not provide DV output. Are ther any other options? I have not tried ImageCapture.app.

Please add to the list.

Anyone think to try other messaging clients yet? Does it work with Yahoo Messenger for example?

I tried it with Yahoo, works just fine--too bad I don't get 30 frames per second though
Am I still here?

Not only does BTV work, but it gives you many interesting video settings, including things like manual focus.

You can use QT Broadcaster without paying for the full QT Pro, yes? No?

Yeah, it does, but holy moly the speed is nothing compared to using the iSight with iChat AV. I don't know what the bottleneck is, but I've had to lower pretty much all the settings in the Yahoo!Messenger prefs, and I'm still getting really jerky video. It's a damn shame...or maybe I'm just doing something incorrectly?

no matter what i do in yahoo i can not get any respecatble fps. it is like a slide show.

just today a pc user friend and i registered for ivisit. he is in london uk, and i am in florida, both on broadband. we were impressed with ivisit. we were getting 10 - 15fps from it.

so far for outside of ichat av, ivisit seems to be winning

I can't seem to get sound out of iVisit. Nothing comes close to Apple's elegant and easy to use sw. iChat is quite awsome compared to anything else.

The new iVisit 3.0.4 and Quicktime 6.5 (maybe also Quicktime 6.4) now supports the firewire mic of the iSight. You can now chat in iVisit without the need of a USB mic. Great!
