Every so often,
MacNN finds a deal that is too big or important to go into our usual deal lists, and is deserving enough to be highlighted in its own
Big Deals post. Today, the
Lytro Illum from
MacNN Deals takes the role, as a second-generation light field camera that is able to refocus a photograph after the shot was taken, though this extends the functionality of the original Lytro with some extra framing options and some traditional camera controls.
Offering a 2D-export resolution of 2450x1634 pixels, this 40-megaray camera has an 8x optical zoom lens with a constant f/2.0 aperture across the entire zoom range, and a shutter speed of 1/400 of a second. On the back is a 4-inch tilted touchscreen that can be used to see what the final refocusable image looks like, as well as to change camera settings such as ISO and the shutter speed.
The key point of the camera is to be able to take photographs without worrying about focusing. The resulting image can be viewed with changeable focus and depth of field, with users also able to adjust the tilt and shift the perspective, slightly altering the line of sight within an image for improved framing. Images can be stored on Lytro.com for sharing online, complete with focus-changing effects, though the supplied tools also allow you to make changes to the image in a variety of image-editing suites.
Originally launched at $1,300, you can now pick up the
Lytro Illum from
MacNN Deals for $600 with free shipping for the next six days.
