Hey all,
Question. Got an iBook Clammy, 366, 6GB HD, 128 MB RAM. I would love to upgrade to 10.3 Panther, but have no DVD drive, or FireWire. I have a new hard drive on order, as well as a 512 MB stick, so support wise I got it. My thing is I can't get it onto my HD. Is it possible to get a USB External DVD drive for a Mac and go that route? Apple sandbagged me on the Media Exchange program, said they wouldn't exchange DVD discs for Panther b/c they no longer sold Panther. Any help appreciated.

A friend of mine thinks that there is a USB->Firewire cable? I dont see this as plausible, due to variances in cable capability, but my local Apple repair shop said they would Macbook Pro ->External HD -> My Clammy as you suggested. Just interestd in the cable theory...

Personally, I'd suggest buying some Panther CDs on eBay, should be cheaper than another drive.

Thanks for the advice, got a bid on Panther + iLife '05 right now. The only thing I want to this Clammy to do/for is to hold my songs, play iTunes, download songs, surf the web, maybe import photos of my daughter to email/post online. I don't ask too much out of this computer, so it would seem very "out of range" to get an external HD.....Plus my local Apple shop wanted $89.98 to install Panther. Thanks gooser, thanks guys...
