I recently discovered lonleygirl15 on YouTube and due to all the controversy surrounding her at the moment, I thought some of you might be interested in finding out what all the fuss is about.

Here are a couple of her movies:
Swimming
Hiking
In the Park

Here is a link to her profile page on YouTube:
Watch more here

She has become the most discussed person on YouTube and has spawned one of the greatest controversies to hit YouTube yet. If you haven't heard of lonleygirl15 by now, you will soon enough. Her channel is the most subscribed channel of all time on YouTube.

hmm... I viewed her pages on YouTube and MySpace and I don't see what the big deal is. Seems like she spends a lot of time on the computer or making videos.

Did that and looks like it's a fictional-soap-opera blog. Apparently the creators have confessed about their intentions regarding the lonleygirl15 character.

Novel idea, but her antics don't really interest me.

So why is this "controversial"?

Is it the mere fact that somebody tried to pass off a staged event as an authentic "video-blog"?

I don't get it?

If I change my way of living, and if I pave my streets with good times, will the mountain keep on giving…

Maybe not you, but apparently enough people do to make it national news all over the world, for her to appear on Jay Leno, make front page news on msn.com, and draw in hundreds of thousands of new viewers to her movies on YouTube.

For those who are too lazy to read up on this, just watch these two news stories on her to understand the full story:

Am I the only one here who thinks that something like this is less controversial, but to be expected when millions of people have access to unchecked media outlets like youtube etc. ?

I'm willing to bet there are numerous people out there already creating "fictional" online characters…

My real name is Agneta and I am the hottest chick in the swedish bikini team!
I now have to admit that I am secretly attracted by geeky men with BlackBerry computers who wear their cell phone in a case on their belt - even better if they also have a leatherman just next to it!
That makes me soooo horny!!!!

I had never heard of her until I stumbled past one of her videos two days ago. I must have clicked on top videos after watching one someone sent me. Nothing exciting, we can all move along with our (real) lives.

When I first heard about this a few weeks ago, I didn't bother looking into it because I'm a grown man. Unless you are a teenager or pedophile, why would you watch videos of a persona called "lonelygirl15" ?

Thank you, my thought exactly.

I mean, WTF ? Are we THAT bored yet ?
Before I look at countless YouTube videos of some teenies with ADD, I'd rather start posting in the PWL on a regular basis. Both of which won't happen anytime soon

If you are an adult, you don't find it odd that you would be attracted to what you thought at the time was a 15 year old girl?

I would find it odd if a grown man weren't attracted to a hot teen girl.

Even you admit that there is not necessarily enough physical difference to tell whether a girl is 15 or 19. So what difference should age make to physical attraction in this case?

Lock me up, officer! I saw a 17-year-old in a bikini once and thought she looked good!

What is the jailtime for thinking somebody looks good, anyway?

i tried watching it, it's boring and a waste of my time, but then again i am a 22 year old male, not a teenage girl. the reason wy this web program is so popular (more viewers than a lot of popular cable shows) is because it felt truly reflective to those little 15 year olds and was available on their favorite medium, the internet. It's not for adults (except the creepy ones) so that is why most of us have never heard of it or care about.

Isn't the internet a wonderful thing?

That fact that this made national news is something that makes me kinda ill. I guess something as trivial as this is more important to the American people than the millions of other newsworthy stories out there.

This idea of creating a fictional character on the internet, and passing it off as a real person is not new. But for some stupid reason this time its a huge controversy? I mean come on. Its things like this that reaffirm my belief that our culture is spiraling into the abyss. We need to stop making this type of crap something that deserves so much air time on our news outlets. Keep this crap on the internet where crap belongs.

And as an aside, I think its funny how our supposedly respected news media is so dumbfounded at the notion that its slowly becoming tabloid garbage. I hear news anchors wondering why the public doesn't respect them anymore. They need only to look at garbage like this to find the answer.

I hadn't heard of this before. Was this really played prominently and I just somehow missed it? I figured it was just one of those "the Internet is weird" features that news outlets like to do occasionally.

Yeah, I take great pride in being familiar with all the crap the internet has to offer. The fact that this shyte has like a billion views.. I dunno.

And ya know, it's kinda sad. Every local news station in the U.S. has a "look at this stupid internet video we found" segment where they show some stupid video I watched two years ago.

Jessica makes MTV

I think its great that she's received so much positive support, even after the fact that she's been "found out". I have a feeling that this is really going to take off and launch her career in a big way. Whoever her "male freind" is, he's a lucky guy.

She actually did a pretty good job with the acting, even if the video is as boring as a real YouTube video.
