I've found a dual g4/450 gigabit (128/dvd/20 gig) for $649 (no kb/mouse), from a reseller. Also in this price range are the eMacs and low-end flat panel iMacs.
What do people think is the way to go? My limited budget tops out @ maybe $1000 ... max.
I'm currently on a bondi iMac with a g3 466 upgrade, but I want firewire, a g4 proc and some more upgradability.
Thanks for any ideas. And any leads on computers that anybody is selling

Unless you want to get stuck with a machine that has even less expandability than your current iMac, an eMac is not the answer.
I think you would love a Dual G4. They are fantastic machines and they have a great upgrade path, including some speedy-as-hell processor upgrades.

definitly the dual G4, but i think the price depending on what else is there, should be less. more like $700 or so.
if you pay $700, you'd have money left over to buy and video, RAM, possibly processor upgrades
