I've heard statistics stating that mac users are, on average, smarter than PC users. Since we are among the maciest of mac people, let's see how we stack up.

Heh. These results will have to be taken with a grain of salt since the bulk of the population falls between 90 and 110, whereas as it stands now, most of us are geniuses, and I highly doubt that.

PS. Online IQ test don't count

Haha, IQ scores for the general population tends to form a normal curve. Ours forms an inverse normal. I wonder what that means?

Online IQ tests i've done i got between 100 -150 depending on the tests.

i tried a real IQ test once, but got bored and didn't finish it.

I have never taken an official IQ test before. The online ones I've done have ranged from 23 (it was really stupid) all the way to two-hundred somethin'.

Does anyone know where I would be able to take a "real" IQ test?

I don't remember what it was when I was last "tested". Does it really matter? Let's post penis size instead Better yet, "my mommy/daddy can kick your mommy's/daddy's ass" or some such nonsensical crap

I'm also of the thinking that the sum of one's collective knowledge can't be represented by a number. There are all sorts of things to factor in, including the way one applies thier knowledge (or even the fact that they DO apply thier knowledge at all) and the sum of ones life experience(s).

Why not represent it by colors or letters or sounds?

Knowledge shouldn't really matter for an IQ. Knowledge is not intelligence.

I end up in the 150's here, but for all practical causes, IQ scores are useless.

If you make a test and give it out to a group of people and use it as a benchmark, someone is going to complain, have the test banned, and return to the 'grade point average' benchmark.

Hehehehhe. I'm sooo bad.

I would've selected the "don't know" category. Never took one or was given one in school. Dai described nicely how I feel about people's "IQ digits" quite well.

Not surprisingly, the vast majority of people seem to consider themselves of an IQ over 140...of course, these same people ALSO finished high school by the time they were 16 and had undergrad degrees by 18, riiiiiiiight?

This is excellent. Who knew we were talking to a plethora of brilliant minds?!?!?

The biggest flaw here is this is self-reporting statistics.

also, the last "official" IQ test I had was over 30 years ago. The question have probably changed since then.

No. The dumb people are the ones who keep on arguing about how IQ tests are useless, etc.

The last time I was tested it took several days, but I have no clear recollection of the event or the results. I think they keep the results in some database from which eventually they will figure out our weaknesses and destroy humanity. Still I think I'm special, because they do not just 'take' anybody for testing.

WOAH! By those numbers, we have 35% of the worlds geniuses right here at MacNN! With all that brain power, why isn't Apple and Microsoft in reversed situations?

Seriously! Join me, and together we can RULE this world! Bwahahaa!

Anywho, I don't know what the exact statistical breakdown is, but genius level (140+) represents the second half of the second standard deviation, or about 2.5% of the population. Something tells me that the odds of that many members of that very small, select community all being Mac users AND being here is very very small (think in the 5th standard deviation, improbable).

Never taken one. I got a 98th percentile in the fun-and-games part (analytical) of the GRE, though. And an 88th in the language section.

I don't put much stock in the IQ thing...nor in the analytical scores for GRE, etc. If I had a brown horse who couldn't be in a stall next to a white horse or in the end stall, I'd either shoot it or sell it. And most farmers would agree with that solution. Alas, it isn't an option in these "real world" questions.
