OK, for all the people with Pudong 'linehaul delays', here's what the delivery people told me on the phone a few minutes ago: The plane didn't leave Pudong because it was grounded by tech staff due to some technical problems. They had to wait till another plane arrived, unload and reload the stuff. But the MBs are fine, the plane plane didn't crash or something like that. Basically the entire shipment is being delayed by 1-2 days. Apple has already started sending delay notices.

A few months ago this happened at Shanghai-Pudong airport:

Cargolux (AFAIK they are the guys flying Apple's Suzhou hardware to Europe) seems to be having quite some issues in Pudong lately.

Maybe Apple should switch to KLM Cargo instead.

My shipment has been updated by TNT, its now in Northampton, which means at least its in my country! I'm hoping it should be here soon then, there's no reason it should take the full 7 more days to get to Essex from Northampton - that could be done in a matter of hours, so hopefully tomorrow or next day

Well I ordered mine from MacMall this morning. I know I will probably wait a little longer but they dont charge taxes and they have the mail in rebate. Those together beat the Apple edu discount. Hopefully they ship it soon!

Can't install my 2 GB RAM today, since I don't have an appropriate screw driver. Bummer.

I will be needing to purchase more RAM, I dont know how long I will be able to stand having only 512... I will probably wait for prices to come down though

Does anyone know if MacMall's shipping times are very accurate? I talked to them on the phone today and they said it should be shipped out on the 31st of the month. Hopefully it ships sooner!

I placed my order today for a white MB with 80 GB drive, 1GB memory and I got an estimated ship date of May 26, delivery date of June 1.

I've ordered a couple of items from Apple in the past and they always ship before the date listed, so I'm hoping that this is the case this time too.

You suck.

Actually, I suck, I ordered in the first hour on the 16th, and then changed the order, which pushed back the ship date a bit.

I hope to get mine (shipped via FedEx) tomorrow, but it still says "At dest sort facility MISSISSAUGA, ON". No mention of customs or anything, and it's been that way since Saturday. Did your info mention customs or anything before it was delivered?

Meanwhile, my 2 GB RAM (shipped via USPS) is in customs. Hopefully it means I'll get it this week, because I'd hate to have to use 512 MB on the MacBook for more than a day or two.

My delivery was updated this morning:

Details:- 24 May 2006, 08:49, Basildon, OUT FOR DELIVERY

I am guessing 'out for delivery' actually means its on the road going to be delivered today, but who knows, it could mean something retarded like 'its sitting at the depot waiting to be sent out'

Fingers crossed!

After 18 years of MS-DOS and Windows working very happy on Mac, now on a 15" MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz - 2Gb memory - 200 Gb HD with a 20 and 23" screen. I've been waiting for the iPhone for quite a while, let's role it out in Europe. Just one wish left for now: a light mac (2-3 pounds) with 8 hours of working time. They can do it... :-)

Thanks.

Hmmm... Mine is still at the sort facility and no mention of clearance has been made yet. The last update was Saturday. I hope this doesn't mean it's not gonna get delivered until tomorrow.

EDIT:

Now it says:

At local FedEx facility

Maybe I will get it today after all. Strange though that mine skipped the clearance step yours went thru.

Frans, congrats on getting it. Harrisjamieh's is also on its way. I find it weird that although our three MBs left the Suzhou facility within minutes of each other and your two have reached Europe, mine hasn't even been scanned for two days.

Mine now says:

Details:- 24 May 2006, 12:19, Basildon, DELIVERED

It was being sent to my dad's shop, and I just called him, and, its here!! Woo! That means I will get my hands on it tonight when my dad brings it home from work.

I am surprised you haven't got yours yet Simon, seeing as they did leave at virtually the same time. When was your ETA from Apple? Because if it has passed, then I would say ring them and have a go, but if your ETA date is still to come, then yes, its odd I have mine and you don't have yours yet, but you can't really complain, as it is still within the ETA.

I hope it get's as speedy as that. I ordered one yesterday, accepted today. I think the earliest packing time could be tomorrow (with these Chinese having no holiday). Departure on Friday, in my house at Monday. But I guess that isn't very realistic

At the moment Apple says:
Send date: May 31
Delivery date: June 12.

I hope these days will change into an earlier date because it would be really sh-sh-sweet to have it before the weekend. I however hope the stock isn't getting empty by now yet.

Guys, according to my order status page mine was shipped last friday via 'Kuhne & Nagel Spedition s.a r.' but the tracking system still hasn't updated with a courier reference - should I be worried? (Will probably give Apple a call tomorrow anyway).

Did you check that on Apple's tracking page? It sucks. Try K&N/TNT directly. Get your 8 digit tracking number (the one that starts with 80...) and plug it into this site

It claims the MB is still in Arnheim when actually the girl at TNT swore it was in Geneva since 9am today and being held back by customs. I really don't know what or who to believe right now, but if it's not here on Friday I'm gonna lose it.

Apple's ETA is Friday so I'm going to kick some major butt if I don't see the truck leave the depot by Friday around noon. The MB's in Europe already so normally I wouldn't be worried, but tomorrow seems to be some kind of holiday and in my experience that means European delivery services drop everything and close down. Where's FedEx when you need em? Sometimes I really regret having left the US.

Thanks mate - that looks a bit more promising. Says its 'arrived at final destination' today but still no TNT tracking, guess that must be a bug or something. Hopefully it'll be here by the weekend (fingers crossed!).

When K&N says 'arrived at final destination' that means they're handing it off to TNT. From there on TNT tracking will let you know what's going on. This handover can take up to three days for reasons I absolutely do not know.

Got the MacBook, and it is FAST.... until it pages out. Too bad it pages out very quickly with its 432 MB RAM.

Haven't got my 2 GB memory yet.

In the meantime, here is one bench of the thing, vs. my iMac.

I finally got it. Well actually I had to pick it up at the sorting facility because they screwed up something with customs documents and wanted to wait till Monday to deliver it. Of course I said no way.

It's right next to my 15" MBP 2GHz (in closed-lid mode), my 23" ACD and my LaCie 160GB FW drive. I'm just setting it up right now.

Delivery date has been cut from June 16 via June 6 to June 2. I however expect it here by May 31. That would be 16 days early
