Bryce - Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com

This is for the Windows version, for you Windows users. I didn't see anything about the Mac version, though I'm sure it's there.

That's really cool. Is the Mac version for OS X or Classic?

Remove the ".txt" extension, so the file name is "Bryce5FreeVersion.sitx" instead...

"FOR FREE" is grammatically incorrect. Saying just 'free', without the 'for' is the proper way to say it. It's kinda 'rediculous' how freaking often people mess this up, really.

Har har. I didn't even see that.

I quoted it on purpose. Even though ridiculous is a very common word, I'd say 50% of the population has some need to spell it wrong, with an E.

I wasn't referring to 'rediculous'. The unintentional humour is elsewhere.

It's kinda of funny that Dino should complain about ordinary colloquial usage of the word "free", but do so in incorrect English.

I'm not sure why it's free either. I got it installed okay, but I'm guessing it doesn't run native resolution at 12xx X 768/whatever I'm doing at home. The viewing area was tiny.

I'm not sure why this is free, but heh, it works and I am grateful.

The native resolution is a bit small, but if you change the render output size, the window expands.
(though not by much)

I think I remember in an older version of Bryce the option to customize the output size, but I don't see it in this version. hmm.

I'm not sure, but it looks like this version can't render animations, unlike the paid version.

If I'm wrong, please correct me!

edit: oops, it's an option in the menu bar, not in the interface.

They are working on Bryce 6. It looks to me like the point is to register a bunch of new Bryce users, who can then be emailed upgrade offers. I passed on it, because they wanted too much registration info. But the samples they show look cool.

Maybe you missed the memo, but cheesy looking 90's style New Age landscapes featuring mirrored spheres are all the rage again.

Oh. Sweet. In that case I think I'll download it, make some landscapes, and put them up next to my Lisa Frank trapper keepers.

... >sigh<

FOR FREE is wrong. Not that I would expect a football fan to read a post, understand his mistake, and correct themselves in the future....

but back on topic, I don't see the point.

Again, FOR FREE is wrong. You can get something FOR NOTHING, but you can't get something 'for free'.

Ie... FOR NOTHING= FREE

FOR FREE= retardedness.

That depend on your point of view with the term "free". You have to have a computer, internet access... etc. None of which is free. Then you've got to register an download. from a strict standpoint it is not free. (Otherwise people would not be passing on downloading it.)
