I use an old Mach 3. Works well enough for my preference. I don't need a baby's ass on my face.

to add to my previous post:
i tried the 4 blade thing from gillete and well, all i can say is that it never got as close as the mach 3 blades. the single blade on the back was the only good part.

I don't like shaving to a clean shave. The Bodygroom thing I use provides a close shave but leaves stubble which doesn't cause me to get razor burn or a shaving rash.

Gillette electric. Once every few days, but definitely before seeing the GF.

I just use the Gillette sensor. For me it works just as well as the Mach 3 but it cost about half as much for replacement blades. The more blades they put on the more they charge us. In my opinion the extra blades are a rip off or maybe it's just me that doesn't notice much of a difference. I'm sure they will just keep adding blades as long as there are people willing to pay the extra cost for them.
When I'm in a hurry to shave I also use a Norelco waterproof electric shaver. It does a pretty good job with its lift and cut technology and because it's water proof I can use water or even shaving cream so that I don't get razor burns. What's interesting is that some areas the Norelco shaves closer while other areas a blade shaves closer.

which I bought in 2000 and still works great. (No. I don't use the illustrated "ejaculate" function )
And this:
if I skip a few days and it's too thick for the electric razor.
I prefer electric razor because it's faster, cleaner (you don't have to mess with cream) and you can use it while half-asleep without risking hurting yourself

I have a Remington electric. Something like STS 2000 or some such. Been using it for like 8 years. Quick and easy - no need for cream or gel.

Gillette Fusion. Very comfortable, and I love the precision one-blade at the back:
It probably won't give you a smoother shave than the Mach 3, but it's a lot more comfortable to use.

Something different.
edit: oh and the cream:
Seriously good, close shave. Plus the blades last a while - easily 6 shaves.

I still use a Gillette Sensor that I got when I first started to shave, 15 years ago. The thing is a tank and gives a good shave - I've never even considered buying a different one.

Exactly.
It is also great for shaving other areas apart from the face.

I'm old school-ish. Gillette Sensor (not the Sensor 3). Two blades works fine for me.

This is good to know, actually, as my wife seems to like best a 2-4 day stubble, rather than either clean-shaven or a proper beard. I wasn't sure if one could achieve that effect.

I don't shave at all. If my beard needs a trim I use a 3/4" guard on a beard trimmer.

I tend to look like I've "come down from the mountains" if I don't shape my beard. I clean up my throat and cheeks to give the beard some definition, and that keeps people from being too scared at my appearance.

I'm really fortunate that my neckline stays in shape naturally. I do have to clips a few strays on my cheeks with the clippers when I trim, but I've not shaved in a few years now.

A blade lasting 6 shaves is GOOD?? Man, I usually only change mine every 6 months or so. Granted that's only really at a shave or two a week and I do use them until they get annoyingly dull but...... changing blades every week would sure get expensive.

Beard and goatee get touched up occasionally; the rest of the head gets a Shick Quattro shave daily.

I use a Mach 3, and generally have to shave twice - once to get the majority off, and a second time to get rid of the remnants. A blade is lucky to last me two shaves (one being as described above, two events), often I've gotta get rid of it after one. They just get too blunt too quickly.
I'm considering going for an electric, though I've never used one before... the stubble thing works for me, and if I plan on going out and hooking up, I have to shave in advance to give it time to grow back (albeit, not a huge amount of time...)
EDIT: Oh, and one of these to shave my head:

I don't shave... I wax!
Actually I don't, but I do use a hairtrimmer as my face gets too dry when using a razor.

The whole experience of using a decent brush and shaving cream is fantastic, and there's an unbelievable variety of creams / soaps to choose from. There is a technique to it, but it's not difficult. The first shave I did was a bit rough, with a couple of nicks, but about as good as I'd get from a Mach 3. After a couple more days, it was so much better.
Sites like Badger & Blade are good for into but a bit obsessive. Also don't be put off by the fact that people have massive discussions on their forums about technique, making it sound difficult. It's very very easy.
Obviously you have to pay a bit for the razor, brush etc, but it is worth emphasizing how cheap the ongoing cost of blades is. I don't know how much Mach 3 blades or the like cost where you live, but I can buy a packet of 10 excellent double edge razor blades for the Merkur from Tesco (a UK supermarket) for around four dollars. That pack will last at least two months.

The blades are super cheap compared to the gilette type ones. And I say at least because I save so infrequently - twice weekly is all the little lady will allow - that I forget, really. I do like my blades sharp though.
Let me also stress that I don't use a brush - it's not necessary - at least with the Proraso cream.

heheh, I remember that.
I think it's true though - those multi-bladed razors leave me irritated, and when you get cut, lookout....
& electrics are useless for me, they leave me stubbly and sore.
I prefer a simple double blade with warmed gel, and right after a shower.

I have no idea what brand of razor I use. I usually buy the cheapest brand in bulk at Sam's club once a year. when it starts to hurt my face I throw that one away and use a new one. I don't use shaving cream, just very hot water from the tap.

I just use a Fusion. I find that it gives me a much better shave than the Mach 3 did, and also that the blades last much longer. That said, I'm thinking about switching to a DE razor.
