Yeah, the movie from about 1984. I'm trying to find the name of the first batch of gremlins that sprouted from Gizmo. I found Stripe, Brain, Poker Player, but that's it. What was the name of the google eyed Gremlin?
I'm using that as the nickname of one of the guys in my shop.

I think everyone remembers that movie. As a kid I found it cute and scary at the time time, it was like a horror movie for kids.
Can't help you with the name though.

I remember the Gremlins... Yup:
Actually, I have to say that I enjoy the 2nd movie much more than th first. It capatilized on what it was really good at. Humor because of the absurdity of it all...

(geek alert)
You are actually thinking of the sequel: Gremlins 2. They were Mohawk, Daffy, George, and Lenny. You are probably thinking of daffy...

The Gremlins were hilarious. The theater scene in the first one is one of my favorites.

I found some Gizmo toys in the mall yesterday. Was super tempted to buy one as a gift. (Who knew the Japanese enjoyed that kind of stuff?)

Gremlins 2 was genius. Nothing like a sequel/parody that rips apart the first movie.

What's amazing is that the movie has no CG and it's all done with puppets. Kermit the Frog would be proud.

From IMDB:
After the Gremlins (1984) became such a surprise success, Warner Bros. immediately wanted a sequel, but director 'Joe Dante' had had enough Gremlins for a while and declined. After five years of unsuccessful attempts with other directors, the studio finally asked Dante again, who agreed on the condition that he be allowed to do anything he wanted.
Which explains a lot now, doesn't it?

Even as a wee young lad, I took notice of Phoebe Cates in that movie ...
I very much liked it.

Alien vs. Predator is one of my sins. While the movie itself was pretty bad, from a visual effects standpoint, I absolutely loved it. They kept to live props and limited CG to only a few parts. Reminded me of the original ALIEN and ALIENS, two of my favorite prop movies. ALIEN ties as my favorite, especially the part where the chest burster makes its debut. You know the looks on their faces? Yeah, those were real. None of the special effects teams let them in on what was going to happen in that scene... just that they all came in with rain slickers. Pure genius.
Another great prop movie was, surprisingly, Silent Hill. Even if you didn't like the movie, check out the extras on the DVD for the production of the movie. Good stuff.
And, of course, nothing can top the remake of The Thing. The best animatronics and puppetry bar none. One of my all time favorites. The part with the head sprouting the legs and crawling off. Superb!

That is one of the best sci-fi/horror movies ever made. Simply timeless! A classic.
