Thanks from one vet. Hopefully others will chime in too.

We serve, sometimes for a LONG time, without expectation of thanks. But with all we do, all we go through, and all we sacrifice, getting that handshake or pat on the back is important too.

23 years, 3 months, 27 days of proud service in the U.S. Air Force.

Take advantage of whatever transition assistance is offered!!!!! REALLY!!! And check with a veterans service organization (like AmVets) for help in submitting to the VA for any potential disability. Tinnitus is worth a 10% disability off the bat, and a large number of us develop it during service. A 10% disability means you're entitled to medical services from the VA no matter what... It's important, at least as important as making sure your pay over the last several years has been accurate and complete.

I wound up with enough of a VA disability to be eligible for the VA's Vocational Rehab program, and I'm making a lot of progress on my MASTER's degree because of it. They get you qualified for entry level positions, but my chosen new profession has a MS as its entry level... It's a good program, and if you qualify, remember that YOU EARNED IT.

Stay dry!

Thanks to you--Glenn, and Dudeness, and Simey (where is he?), and that young guy who went off to Iraq--and to all the good soldiers, past and present, who serve this country. If I can find a seller here in Brooklyn, I will be wearing my poppy tomorrow.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

One song that I've played on the last couple of Memorial day and on Veterans day is "American Soldier" by Toby Keith. Great Song. I always try and remember those who have fought so that we have the freedoms in this country. Thank You to ALL the Vets and to those Currently Serving.
