New Lion install on Macbook ( Black 2007 2.2 Core2Duo 4gigs of ram) currently on 10.7.1
this is a new install after a complete wipe. I installed with thumbdrive made

Wifi just wont accept WPA2 password at all.
Wifi will not connect when there is no security either

Ethernet is only getting a self assigned IP though it doesn't say it is self assigned like it normally would in Snow Leopard anyway.

I have tried
1. Reboot router ( multiple times, also after steps tried below)
2. Reboot Computer
3. Reset router to factory defaults
4. Renew DHCP Lease
5. Create new location in Network Prefs
6. Manually type in an available address

Nothing is working and I am out of ideas. Any help appreciated

ok i downgraded to Sl and still the issue persists might be a hardware thing now but dunno

I am currently downgrading to leopard it seems to have actually deleted the Recovery HD partition then did a diskutil list from terminal it was not there any more so hopefully lion is completely gone. it probably has nothing to do with it but wanted to make sure

anyway when it was not working in SL I did a ifconfig en0 and it had something called "hw-loopback" in there that is not shown when doing that on my mini which works fine

what is hw-loopback?

Wow never though I would reinstall a computer 3 times in one day. Anyway when I downgraded to 10.5 it started working again. Then I upgraded back to Lion and it is still working. Wish I knew what the problem was.

Just a flaky install/upgrade I guess. Happens now and then. Glad you got it sorted.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
