I am moving and the only tv option at the new place is comcast. From my prior experiences of comcast, I have to imagine that their corporate HQ is somewhere between the 4th and 6th circle of hell. If I have to use them I want to know I'm getting the best deal possible. I've been poking around the internet for a bit checking out the options, but I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to get the best possible deal with them. I'm looking for cable and internet.

Thanks.

My local cable co (BrightHouse/TimeWarner) will bend over backwards if you say you're looking at DirecTV. I got full cable + HBO & Showtime and HD DVR for $39/month for over 2 years because I told them I was going to go with DirecTV (that is normally $105/month here).

I went with one of their promotions. When it ended, I called them back up, told them their regular rate was too high, and they extended the promotion.

In my area comcast is no better then the competition. They have their all in one package; phone/internet/cable tv plus one premium movie channel for 130. Add in a DVR and the price jumps to 145 a month, plus taxes of course.

That does not seem like any sort of incentive package to me. That price is good if I sign a 2 year contract by the way, I have no idea what the real price would be if I didn't sign a 2 year contract.

I open my paychecks these days and there's just a note: "Thank you for your payment, Love Comcast"

We have one DVR box, and two other digital boxes. HBO package and high speed internet, I think we give them about $14000 a month.

Calling and saying I'm switching to DirectTV usually gets a "gosh, sorry to see you go, please don't forget to return your equipment!"

Subtle huh, if my wife saw that she'd burst out laughing. I don't have a subtle bone in my body

In college we used to always do the 3month deal, then put another roommate on the plan and get the 3-month deal again. The same guy would come back each time to sign the paperwork and I'm pretty sure one of my roommates bought pot from him...

Is your life any more exciting now that you're living in South Beach?

Please say yes.

well, yeah. 14k is probably not possible with comcast.
You'd need AT&T for that.

Sign up for some kind of deal and do not get a dvr unless it is free. The aggravation ain't worth it. Also leave out the phone unless you are certain that will not need a medic and there will never be a storm and ...
