When I use the archive function of 10.3.9 and the archive is larger than 700MB, the file can not be saved over multiple CD's. Only remark from the sytem that the file is to large for the CD. In prehistorc times, one could save lager files, even ZIP files over multiple floppy disks.

What do I need to do to save over multiple CD's?

Toast 8.x allows this. Perhaps earlier versions did as well. I just don’t recall.

Just launch Toast, select format, name the CD and then drag the archive to the “Burn” window. Toast will then determine how many blank CDs you need, and then, presuming this is OK with you, click the burn button.

While I have always enjoyed having this feature, I have never had need of it, so expect some variance with my instruction.

Also, other CD/DVD burning software may also satisfy your need. Alas, I have only used Toast.

FWIW, by using the new high capacity DVDs, perhaps you can preclude segmenting your data.

With a .mac subscription, the Backup program will span multiple CDs/DVDs automatically. It's a good program.
