In the past with migrating machines (from old to less old) I've just copied over the old libraries and started with that. However this time I have two libraries and they are different. I'd like to keep playlists and ratings if possible. One of the photos libraries has iphoto in it so it goes back 20 years.

Best way to do this? Google is showing me shady apps and confusing options.

Shouldn’t the migration assistant take care of all that?

Neither of these is a brand new machine... does migration assistant merge libraries?

Well, the instructions here looked promising, but it didn't appear to move music files so now my library is full of (!) missing files. Revert and start over...
